We had a time trial (unofficial race) in Girdwood, Alaska this past weekend.

My team, APU, joined up with University of Alaska Anchorage and University of Alaska Fairbanks skiers for an 8km classic individual start, complete with uniforms, bibs, and a results sheet.  It was our first "race" of the season.

Girdwood is beautiful year round, but on race day it was looking especially magical with feet of snow piled on the trees, a thin crescent moon, and a colorful sunrise on the horizon.

I don't have much to say about the race, other than that it was nice to get outside with nice people and enjoy the flow of breathing hard. That's what it's all about for me these days.

The simplicity of enjoying the day without bigger considerations has already made racing, and life, more pleasant. It was a great race and a great weekend. I'm excited for more this coming weekend!
