The good ol' days are now

“Everything will be okay in the end, and if it’s not okay, it’s not the end.”

- John Lennon

So if things are okay, does that mean it’s the end? The end of what?? I’m not sure if this quote is comforting or terrifying.

Today’s thought of the week is about acceptance of change.

At this moment in my life, things are about as good as I can imagine. That feeling also comes with some fear, knowing that the moment is fleeting.

It’s comforting to think that hard times always pass and that nothing is permanent. But sometimes things are good, and it’s scary to think that the good things will change, too.

The best advice I heard on this topic went something like this:

Allow yourself to enjoy when things are good - appreciate every positive and soak it in. There is no need to protect yourself from being “too happy” as long as you can accept change as a part of life. You can look back knowing that you didn’t take anything for granted.

In the same vein, take solace in knowing that hard times pass - they always do.

It resonated with me, anyway. I think that purposeful acknowledgement of all the good around me is a recipe for a good life. Change isn't so bad when I trust myself to find the good in any situation.

The good ol days are now.

Happy Tuesday!
